In the ancient artist village of Valloria, known as the village with the Painted doors, as each artist has hand painted the door of his home, the beautiful old country cottage, gazing out over the olive groves to the sea at Imperia, some 12 km below. The much noted mountain hiking trail of the Alta Via passes just above and it is possible to walk through the mountains to the Cinque Terre from here. It is a fabulous part of the National Park of the Maritime Alps, with incredible wildlife, butterflies and wild orchids abound. The surrounding villages such as medieval village of Dolcedo on the river below are much noted for their monuments and art.
