Casa delle Cieca is an old Marche farmhouse is builder-finished with two planned bedrooms. Located at the end of the road it offers privacy with splendid uninterrupted views on the majestic Sibillini Mountains.
The original farmhouse suffered considerable damage in the 2016 earthquake, so it was decided to rebuild it exactly as it was. The reconstruction has been carried out with an EU contribution, and according to the most rigorous anti-seismic principles. Beneath the house are eighteen fifteen-metre-long piles, which link the foundations to solid subsoil.
The foundations are covered with an impermeable membrane to protect against rising damp. The inner skin of the insulated-cavity walls is of anti-seismic terracotta blocks; the outer skin is built with the stones from the old house; the inner and outer skins are linked with steel ties.
At the first-floor level and beneath the roof there is a reinforced concrete ring beam, as also across the central load-bearing wall. The interior beams, in top-quality chestnut, are bolted into the ring beam. The roof is covered with the original tiles, and beneath them insulation and a bituminous membrane.
The work was carried out by a family contractor with generations of experience in the traditional building technique and has been done to the highest standards. All the anti-seismic measures – the steel, the concrete – remain completely hidden, leaving just the old traditional house in stone, brick and timber.
All the structural work on the house has been completed. The builder has a contract to do what remains: internal plastering, floors, doors, windows, wiring, etc. at standard prices, the buyer would have the choice in these matters, covering of course extra costs.
It is possible to add another 50m2 to the house.
The property is conveniently located between the mediaval town San Ginesio and the larger city of Tolentino.
